I just read this article about a controversial qualification of a transgender, Jenna Talackova, into the world's famous Miss Universe pageant. My view on this as a naturally-born woman is that ones feminism is not defined by what is lacking in the body but what is present in one's heart.
My stand is she should be given the chance to join or even win this competition. How about you? What's your stand?
Just for additional information: Jenna Talackova was already taken out from the pageant.

I think they "CAN" make their own pageant yang. If they are really fixated about it. I mean, there's the Ms. Universe and there's the Mr. World (dunno if there's Mr. Universe). So obviously, everybody has his/her own place. And for them, the transgender, to join a "woman's" pageant, that's an insult to me as a woman. I don't question the "person" joining the pageant. But I hope people will just do it the right way. But before they can, they have to "correct" their perspective first. Just a view! -Shella
ReplyDeleteIf mawala ang "naturally-born woman" na requirement sa mga beauty pageant, imagine na lang... Wala nang babae sa beauty pageant! Eh mas maganda pa sila eh. Kinakabog na tayo mga girlalu.
